Q: What is the temporary e-Tax login solution?

A: This e-Tax login solution allows taxpayers to access their e-Tax accounts even if the ttconnect portal is unavailable.

Q: Who can access eTax if ttconnect is unavailable?

A: Individuals or Companies who are already enrolled for e-Tax and who normally access their e-Tax accounts using their ttconnect ID and password can utilize this solution.

Q: How do I access e-Tax if ttconnect is not available?

A:

  1. Users can access the e-Tax portal via the existing link https://etax.ird.gov.tt
  2. A Banner is displayed at the top of page to alert users .
  3. ttconnect ID, BIR Number and current e-Tax password is required for login.
  4. The image below shows the pop up window users would see after a valid ttconnect and BIR number is provided. By selecting the “Send Authentication Email” button, an email would be sent with an alphanumeric authentication code to the user’s email address.
  5. An “Authentication Code” field would be available to enter the code received to complete the logon process.

Q: Will I be able to access all e-Tax services using the temporary e-Tax login?

A: Yes all services will be accessible except for the Manage Access functionality (account managers, associates and authorised agents) which would be limited to only persons who were granted access prior to the unavailability of the ttconnect portal can be updated or removed and no new access can be granted.

Q: What happens if I have a ttconnect ID but I have not enrolled for e-Tax?

A: The non-logged in services remain available for use. The IRD team is currently working with ttconnect to introduce a temporary solution by mid-August 2022 for taxpayers who wish to obtain a ttconnect ID and get enrolled for e-Tax

Q: Can I change my authorization email address?

A: Yes, you can contact our toll free number at 800-TAXX (8299) and select option 1. IRD’s Call Centre agents are available Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4 pm.

Q: Does this temporary e-Tax Login Solution affect the non-logged-in services?

A: No, the non-logged in services are not impacted by this solution

Q: Will this temporary solution be available once the ttconnect portal is available?

A: No, this solution will only be available should the ttconnect portal be unavailable.

Q: How long is the authentication code valid for?

A: The authentication code is valid for 24 hours and can only be used once

A: You can request a new authentication code. Click the “Request New Code” button and a new authentication code will be emailed to you.

Q: How do I get my company BIR number?

A: Once you have been granted access to your company’s e-Tax account, you will need your ttconnect ID and the Company’s BIR number. Your company will provide the Company BIR number
